There are no definite "styles" or "techniques" in practicing Aikido. So if you ask about the aikido techniques, you’ll always find that answer. There are no definite aikido techniques. This is because of the dynamic nature of Aikido as a unique martial art. After the development of aikido by Morihei Ueshiba, many students were inspired to train under his guidance.
O Sensei, Morihei Ueshiba often called, encouraged the students to create their own dojos so they can improve the tenets of the aikido technique. Aside from encouraging the students to improve their own dojos and sharing his knowledge, O Sensei also inspired his students to develop their own aikido styles, techniques and interpretations as long as these techniques suit with the basic principle of aikido, "not fighting force with force". Yes, this is the principle that the teacher repeats over and over because the techniques of aikido can destroy or kill when applied without care.
The emerging of various aikido dojos has created more and more aikido techniques. Despite the differences techniques in various dojos, there is a set of the common aikido techniques in which almost all dojos use. Each of this technique is carefully trained to the student so they can discover its strengths and weaknesses. Most people say that there should be no inferior or superior aikido technique. It depends on the individual practicing the technique that can truly tell which technique works well for them. Ok, that’s it. On the next posting, we’ll talk about the most common aikido techniques in the world. So, don’t miss it.
